Many studios say they do digital recording, but 95% of the signal path is analog. The main problem in digital recording is changing the signal from analog to digital and back to analog too many times. All of these conversions make the sound dull and lifeless. Studios that use equipment with low cost internal converters frequently have this problem. At Paradoxx Sound when we say digital, we mean it! The analog signal from our microphones and direct boxes goes through high quality microphone preamps or channel boxes with EQ and compression. From there we go directly to our Prism analog-to-digital converters. After conversion, we record your sound, the “digital bit stream”, to one of the following formats:

-Pyramix hard disk recording system 28 tracks, 24 bit/96K
-SADiE 24-96 hard disk recorders, 24 tracks, 24 bit/48K
-Genex 8000 MO recorders, 24 tracks, 24 bit/48K
-ADAT XT 24 tracks, 16 bit

After recording, all mixing is done using our Soundtracs D4 digital mixer that has 80 channels @ 24 bit/96K all with 6 band EQ, compression and gating. The D4 mixer also has total recall and full automation. Digital EFX processing is provided by the following equipment:

-Lexicon 960L 8 channels
-TC M6000 8 channels
-TC M5000 4 channels

-Analog processes can also be used with Prism D to A and A to D converters.

The final mix is sample-rate converted and saved as a 24 bit/44.1K, two-track recording ready for mastering to CD.
